Unusual signs of pregnancy less than 36 weeks
A feeling of tightness in the pelvic area (feeling like the baby is dropping down), lower back pain (especially if you haven't had this before), menstrual-like or stomach cramps, or more cramping 4 times in an hour (even without pain).
Increased vaginal discharge or discharge that has an unusual change such as becoming looser, mucusy, or bloody (even if it's pink or just a little bloody).
Abnormal signs during pregnancy
- Your baby moves or kicks less than usual
- Severe or persistent abdominal pain
- Vaginal bleeding or discharge
- Pain or burning when urinating, urinating less or urinary retention
- Severe or persistent vomiting, vomiting with pain or fever
- Chills or fever of 38°C or higher
- Blurred vision, night blindness, or seeing bright spots
- Severe or persistent headache, headache with blurred vision, slurred speech, or numbness of the tongue
- Swelling in the face or puffiness around the eyes, severe swelling in the fingers or hands, severe or sudden swelling in the legs, feet, or ankles, or rapid weight gain (more than 2kg in a week)
- Severe or persistent pain in the legs and calves that doesn't go away even when you flex your ankle or point your toes toward your knee, or one leg is significantly swollen compared to the other
- Abdominal trauma
- Fainting, frequent dizziness, heart palpitations, or palpitations
- Shortness of breath, coughing up blood or chest pain
- Severe constipation with abdominal pain or severe diarrhea lasting more than 24 hours
- Intense itching all over
- Any health problem that you would normally need to call your doctor, even if it's not related to pregnancy (like worsening asthma or a worse cold)
Even if you notice other unusual signs of pregnancy, even if not on the list above, you should still inform your doctor. That way, you'll get immediate support if there's a problem, or you'll feel reassured knowing everything is fine.
